CURRENT PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

CANADA - Chatham (Ontario)

I'm sending you this email in hopes that someone can help me. My family and I

have been experiencing things that can not be explained. My wife has been

telling me that she's been hearing people walking around our house, banging on

dressers and standing beside our bed at night. Until last night I shrugged it

off. At approximately 3:00am I awoke from my sleep to hear walking sounds

upstairs In our hallway. We have a baby monitor downstairs that monitors the

upstairs but nothing was coming through on it. I settled back down to sleep and

was awaken once again to the sounds of someone walking down the stairs. These

sounds were'nt creaking sounds of a house settling. These sounds were that of a

person walking down the stairs as if you and I were walking. I have nobody

within my area that specializes in these types of cases. I'm interested in

finding a psychic who can come in, assess what's happening and maybe fix the

problem if there is one. If you know someone who can help me, please let me

know.

PENNSYLVANIA - Chester County

I live in Chester County, Pennsylvania. This area of Pennsylvania is semi to

moderately rural. I am a religious man, and have a strong faith in God, and I

am not sure if there is anything living in another world among us here on

earth, meaning that I have never seen or dealt with anything like this before.

I am writing this just less than a week after the first incident with something

making an incredible noise and banging against the second story windows of the

house that I live in with my brother and my sister-in-law. From my guessing,

and I am not a professional, the house is approximately 100 years old.

Wednesday 22-Dec-98 (Between 2:00am - 3:00am):

It was between two and three in the morning. It was cold and very windy

outside, and I had just awoken from sleep. I had gone down stairs to get some

iced tea to drink, and had just returned to my bedroom. I heard several loud

banging against the second story windows of the house. Less than a second,

almost along with the banging, I had seen flashes of light, one flash for each

bang. This had startled me, and I had just hollered "HEY". That was the end of

the first incidence.

Thursday 23-Dec-98 (5:30 am):

My alarm clock had just gone off, and I got up and shut it off, and turned on

the TV to watch the morning news. Just after I had turned away from the window

and the TV, I had heard the same banging this time on each window around the

second floor. I ran to the hallway, and knocked on my sister-in-law's bedroom

door, and asked her if she had heard anything. She said that it was just the

cat, and ignored it. I on the other hand, looked out the hallway window, and

saw a glimpse of someone running past the window resembling and young child

between the age of 8 and 10, and heard laughing from a child approximately the

same age. Remember, the house that we live in is in a semi to moderately rural

area and the closest neighbor is at least 4/10th of a mile away. Again a close

to the second incident. This being the end of the second incident got me

thinking of the first incident. I had passed the first instance off to the high

winds that we had that night, and early hours of the morning. I later told

friends and co-workers about this, and yes, they laughed at me. One person who

did laugh, did tell me that I should keep a documentation of these happenings,

and that is partially why I am writing this.

Saturday 26-Dec-98 (Between 9:00pm & 10:00pm):

The past two days, and nights, I had heard nothing, and thought the noises were

gone. My fiancée Crystal and I were sitting on the couch in the living room,

and my brother and sister-in-law had just settled down for sleep. We were

watching TV, when we both heard banging outside. A few seconds later, we both

heard a door knob being rattled. I immediately got up and went to the back

porch, then outside to investigate, but nothing was to be found. No barking

dog, or footprints in the snow. My brother had even come outside to investigate

as well, but nothing was there. My fiancée is a firm believer in spirits, and

had never heard these noises before in my house, but immediately she apologized

for laughing at me. Being a believer in spirits, she is now a believer in the

spirit in the house that I live in.

Sunday 27-Dec-98 (Between 2:00am - 3:00am):

I don't know if this time is significant or not, I am not a ghost buster, and

do not know any history on the house. Remember also, this is my first

experience with anything like this. My fiancée and I were sleeping in the

bedroom, and had woken up. This is when we both heard the banging again, then

after about a minute of it, it was gone. I had gone back to sleep, but my

fiancée said that she was lying there in bed awake when she heard noises of

someone being awake in the bathroom. This went on for approximately the next

two hours until my brother's alarm clock went off, and he had to go to his

weekend job. Not that I discredit my fiancée, but I didn't hear these noises,

so I really can't document them. After the incident on Sunday morning, I have

not heard anything since. I am waiting for the next incident to happen.

Hopefully I can get more info while also trying to do my own ghost busting on

my own recorder and camera in hand.

TENNESSEE - Milington (Naval Air Station)

In the summer of 1986, I was in the Marine Corps. and station at Naval Air

Station Memphis in Milington, TN. I was part of a work detail that was given

the task that day to clean the movie theater on the base. After a morning of

scrubbing floors, taking out trash and such we looked forward to lunch. After

lunch had been eaten, myself and two others decided to go into one of the

theaters and take a nap. These were old theaters with big wooden stages that

were now used just for showing whatever movies the Navy could get their hands

on for a reasonable price. We had turned the lights out except for the small

lights along the walkways and the end of the aisles. I was in the back and the

other two were up front, near the stage. uddenly I heard noises, like people

running on carpet. I stood up with my back to the wall, straining to see in the

darkness and saw two figures running through the rows of seats, then seated in

the middle of the

I has seen a boy and a girl, but I knew that couldn't be true as there was just

us three guys in the theater.

walking slowly up the walkway towards me. Faint shadows were cast on the walls

from the dim lights on he floor. Thinking that my friends were trying to scare

me I slowly moved towards the light switch, to throw it at just the right time

and scare then first. When the time in the stage. After being yelled at by them

for nterrupting their sleep, I decided to dismiss the event as runaway

imagination. We resumed our duties of scrubbing floors and taking out trash. A

little while later, we were talking with the civilian janitor whose been

working at the theater for many years. After we had told him we had taken a nap

in the theater, he asked if we ahd seen the ghosts. Then, I felt an ice-cold

chill come over me and every hair on my body as raised. I mustered up the

courage to admit to seeing something, even though my co-workers were sure to

think me a lunatic. Then the old janitor told the story of how two lovers a boy

and a girl were killed backstage in a fire as they were laying in each others

arms. He said that some nights after the crowds are gone, that he can hear then

trying to run from the fire. Other nights they bang on the walls and the doors

to be let out.

MASSACHUSETTS - Boston  (Ramada Inn)

I want to find out if anyone else ever stayed in a haunted Ramada Inn, in

Massachussetts outside Boston. When I was about 11 years old, we went to Boston

on a short trip, spending the night at a Ramada Inn. The problem is that I was

just 11 and never thought to investigate or at least get the address of that

Ramada Inn. That night, I was taking a shower. I distinctly heard flapping

noise, like when you're drying a towel or sheet and you flip it to smooth it

out so you can put it on the line. As soon as I opened the shower curtain, it

stopped. When I closed it, it started again. I did this twice, then finished my

shower and quickly finished so I could get out of there. It freaked me out when

I realized it wasn't a neighboring room or my mom because it distinctly stopped

as soon as I opened the curtain and started again when I closed it. What do you

think happened in that bathroom? Anyone else have similar experiences?

TRUE LIFE ENCOUNTERS

______________________

I have a ghost living in my house. My next door neighbor told me about how an

old lady died in the house I live in. She was a nice old lady that everybody

knew.she did have some health problems, but it didn't seem to bother her. One

day my neighbor realized that she hadn't come out of her house to get the paper

or anything for a week, so she called the police. They came and opened the door

and this smell was so strong it made them sick, and they had to wear gasmasks.

The police went in the house to look

for the old lady they found her in the room that is my room, so they carried

her out and had a nice funeral for her. Before we moved in they had to air out

the house for a couple days. They redid the house so we could move in. What's

weird is sometimes I see her standing in front of the closet door. I know I'm

not seeing things. One time she reached her hand for me, I closed my eyes then

opend them, but she was still there. When I see her I'm not afraid. I know she

real my best friend is a witness of this. One day I was in my room with my

friend. We were going to watch a movie i set the tape case down and all the

sudden it just flew to the floor Katie my friend her a eyes were real big. I

looked around and said why did you do that. Katie said to me Naomi who are you

talking to? I said the ghost, she gasped. My dad sometimes has

encounters with her. He turns on the back porch light and she turns it off. She

plays games; it's funny. She is really nice. I wish I could have known her.

HAUNTED HOUSE TEST

____________________

by Richard Senate (OUR PSYCHIC WORLD)

For anyone who lives in a haunted place there comes a time when the evdence of

your own eyes is too much to ignore. It is then that the idea that you live in

a haunted house becomes a recognized fact. You can scoff and give brave

rational answers to the strange and unexplainable events that are happening all

around you for only so long. These excuses become all the more strained as time

passes. At last you feel there can be no other explanation than a ghost (or

ghosts). At that time one should try to call in an expert.

Ghost Hunters and such are, in some small way, akin to plummers. Just as you

attempt to fix your own pipes at your peril so it is with having a specter

lodging with you. It may well be cheaper to ‘do it yourself' but this can also

be unwise. So, I have devised a simple test for you to take if you believe that

you may be living in, or working in, a haunted site.

1. Have you ever heard a voice in this location when there was no one there?

Yes, No

2. Has the TV or Computer turned itself on by itself? Yes, No

3. Have you seen doors open and close by themselves without a reason? Yes, No

4. At anytime, have you smelled something out of the ordinary? Yes, No

5. Have you ever had things vanish only to turn up a few days later? Yes, No

6. Have you ever seen any object move on its own, without reason? Yes, No

7. Have you ever woke out of a sound sleep swearing that there was a scream?

Yes, No

8. Do you find one part of the building strangely cold when it should not be?

Yes, No

9. Do you ever feel "watched" in the bathroom? Yes, No

10. Is there any odd stains in the building that look like blood? Yes, No

11. Do animals, such as dogs and cats, avoid rooms in the structure? Yes, No

12. Do small children scream when forced to enter a room in the building? Yes,

No

13. Has there ever been a murder or suicide in the structure? Yes, No

14. Was there ever a battle fought near the site? Yes, No

15. Have you ever found Native American artifacts near the location? Yes, No

16. Do you have persistent night mares when you stay at the structure? Yes, No

17. Have you ever seen a ‘shadow' move out of the corner of your eye at the

site? Yes, No

18. Have you ever felt something, invisible, touch you at the site? Yes, No

19. Have you ever gotten a white spot or shaft in pictures taken at the site?

Yes, No.

20. Do creative people seem disturbed being in the building? Yes, No.

21. Have you had pictures, crosses, etc... fall off the walls by themselves?

Yes, No

22. Do fireplace fires or candles act odd in the house? Yes, No

23. Have you ever seen odd markings appear on the walls like "Get Out"? Yes No

24. Does the bathroom toilet flush itself? Yes, No.

If you answer "yes" to ten of the following questions you live or work in a

haunted site. If you answered "yes" to five of the following questions it is

possible you live or work in a haunted building. If you answered "yes" to 15 of

the questions you should seek help and advise as soon as possible!

CURRENT PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

CANADA - Ontario

Tanya Powell (tlpowell@hotmail.com) reports a haunting occurring in her

apartment in Ontario, Canada:  "I live in a townhouse complex that is about 11

years old, and it is rumored to have been built on an old Indian burial

ground.  An Indian shaman had to come and bless the land before any kind of

construction could be started.  Well, I remember one night, I had just gotten

ready for bed and removed my necklace and placed it on a hook on my dresser. I

hopped into bed and fell asleep. When I woke up the next morning, the necklace

was laid out neatly at the foot of my bed!  I didn't really think too much of

it at  first and took my necklace and put it back on. A few weeks later, I was

getting ready to go out an went to apply some perfume, only to find the bottle

gone!  I searched my room up and down looking for it to no avail.  It was gone

for about a week, and I heard somewhere if you ask for the object back, the

ghost will return it. So I stood in my room and said

aloud, "Please return my perfume!"  The next day, I found it on the floor

beside my dresser. I had searched that place many times before and it wasn't

there, and now suddenly, there it was!  I haven't had any recent occurrences,

but I still feel the presence. I think my visitor may be a woman, and just

wants to keep up her womanly appearance!"

ILLINOIS - Chicago

Over the last two decades, several sightings of a Lady in Black have been

reported in the area around Maxwell Street in Chicago. The encounters always

take place outdoors, and the good-Samaritan spirit appears to be wanting to

help people or warn them. I've just received another report from Frank D.

Ayers  (fdayers@ibm.net): "The year was1969, and I was 20 years old. I was

enrolled in the Chicago Police academy, which was located near Maxwell Street

and the Dan Expressway. I had been attending the academy for several months

and

was taking lunch with two other academy students. As we entered a small

restaurant in this area, I remember a white lady dressed in all black clothes.

Her dress reminded me of someone from the 1800's, and the reason I mentioned

her color is because the area was basically a black neighborhood and seeing a

white lady in this area makes this individual encounter even stranger. Now, as

I stood in the entryway to the restaurant with my friends on either side of

me,  this Lady in Black came up to me and looked right into my eyes.

Without a

word or hand gesture or even a facial expression, she somehow communicated to

me to hand her the pen and small note pad I had in my upper left hand shirt

pocket to her. I did just that without knowing exactly why.  She took the pen

and note pad and wrote something into the note pad. Then she looked at me and

shook her head in a gesture of no, no, no.  She handed me the pen and note pad

and left abruptly. I looked into the note pad and noticed what she wrote: my

name and my birth date. But then I also realized that it was in my own

handwriting.  I quickly turned to my friends and asked them, "Did you see what

the lady just did?"  They responded to my question as though I was crazy.

"What lady?"  They acted as if nothing unusual happened, and we went into the

restaurant and had lunch. Well, this strange little encounter stayed with me,

and I always felt that I would have to quit the Chicago Police Department

someday.  I felt she was telling me to leave this career option in order to

save my life.  Now, I never told many people of this story.  However, I saw a

TV show ("Unsolved Mysteries") in which a Lady in Black saved a

motorcyclist on

a highway near this area in Chicago and how paramedics and others saw this

Lady

in Black come to his aid and saved his life recognize. I am now certain

that it

was the same Lady in Black I encountered outside that Maxwell Street

restaurant."

TEXAS - Temple

This report is from Mark A. Keeton (receptionist@brierley.com). It is about an

incident from this city and he wonders if others have experienced anything

similar in the house in question. "My great-grandparents lived in an old farm

house in Temple Texas. To my knowledge it was built around the turn of the

century. My grandparents were very poor people who had worked hard as migrant

pickers to save money to buy a home. A man came to them shortly after they

looked at the house and explained to them that the house was

haunted by the spirit of a young girl that was his niece. He told them that

they should rethink their decision to buy it. My grandparents spoke little

English and thought the man was just trying to keep them from moving in to his

old family home. Sarah, my great-grandmother, loved the house so much she

wouldn't hear of not buying it. Within days of their moving-in the presence of

a ghost was undeniable. By the time I was born

they had been in the house at least 25 years. As a child, I experienced many

poltergeist phenomena in the house. The bedding would get tucked in tightly

around me at night for no reason, the gas heater would get turned up to

high in

the middle of July, or the large windows in my bedroom opened wide in the

middle of the winter. There were times when I would feel someone touch my hair

or rub my legs when I was asleep, but when I would open my eyes there would be

no one there. Once I saw someone crying in the backyard through the screen

door. It was a lady in a dark blue dress, She was kneeling down and looking at

something that I could not see. She looked odd to me and her clothes reminded

me of "Little House on The Prairie." All I can say about her face was that is

was just without any detail. I asked my grandmother who she was, and she just

looked up through the kitchen window and said "That's her!" I knew who she

meant without having to ask. The ghost  would often return to that same spot.

It was rumored through the family that her baby was buried there. I have never

seen anything to prove the story, but it was said a young girl gave birth out

of wedlock and her father murdered the child and buried in the yard. It is

also

said that the girl went mad with grief and hung herself in the room that I

slept in on my visits. The haunting continued until my grandparents left the

house in 1989 to move in to a retirement home. Since then the house is under

new ownership and has been remodeled. I have often wondered if she is still

there with the new owners, I just don't think so. I have driven by the house

many times on my visits there. She use to be able to be seen by passersby from

the street. Maybe when they put in the pool they unearthed whatever it was

that

was keeping her earthbound, but I was wondering if anyone in Temple knows

anymore about this true haunting."

TRUE LIFE ENCOUNTERS

______________________

"When I was in first grade my sister, nearly fifteen years older than me at

the

time, passed away. Several years later as I slept in bedroom, I awoke one

night

and saw a young lady standing at my bedroom door that I closed earlier. This

lady was standing directly in the door frame as if the door had been open all

along. At first I thought I must be dreaming, but as I realized that I was

really awake and really seeing a lady, I assumed that she was my mother and it

had just taken me a moment to gain my senses.  I called to my mother, "Mom,"

three or four times and the lady would not respond. This was not like my

mother, so I got up to go to the door, all the time able to see the lady in

full view until I was standing directly in the spot where she was. At that

point, a chill came over me and I took several quick steps backwards. To my

surprise, I could still see the lady, who I then realized was my sister,

Linda,

who had passed nearly ten years earlier. I have not seen her since then, but

that night after I returned to my bed (quite a while after the disturbing

incident) I felt a peace come over me and felt that she and I needed that one

last meeting so that I

would always remember her since I was so young when she died."  -

AFTER DEATH: HOW PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD MAP THE JOURNEY AFTER LIFE

(by Sukie Miller) ISBN 0-684-83869-9, $12.00 Qpk, Touchstone.

Using interviews with hundreds of people who have died and were brought

back to

life, the author of this book attempts to answer the age-old question “What

happens to us after we die?” As director of the Institute for the Study of the

Afterdeath, Sukie Miller worked with the world’s leading researchers on life

after death and concluded that each of us possesses a “Vital Imagination” of

encapsulated consciousness that survives physical death. What is more, there

seems to be a common “geography” to the Other Side that most near-death

experiencers describe in the same way.

First, there is a waiting place, where the deceased is transformed from a

physical being into a spiritual being in order to travel in the new realm.

Second is a judgment area, in which the traveler’s previous life is

reviewed and

evaluated. The results of this scrutinizing phase determine the deceased’s

destination on the Other Side. Third comes the realm of possibilities,

where the

traveler enjoys (or endures) the new spiritual reality into which he or she

has

been immersed. This is a period of pure experience in which the deceased

simply

exists within the landscape of the Afterdeath. Finally -- for near-death

experiencers at least -- there is a return to the earthly realm that is

experienced as an unpleasant descent into darkness and matter.

Most who spend any time on the Other Side also report sensing a grand pattern

to the universe, a divine mechanism for the evolution of soul. They feel that

if they had not returned to earth in their former body, their essence or soul

would have returned within the chrysalis of a new body and new identity. At

the

same time, they are aware of a greater possibility. They understand how it is

possible to achieve a state of perfected consciousness that escapes the Wheel

of Fate, the cycle of birth and rebirth, and joins the universal mind in an

eternal embrace of wisdom and bliss.

EMERALD TABLET NETWORK (ETX)

A national organization devoted to helping people deal with paranormal and

mystical transformative experiences has been formed. Membership is free and

there are online and community discussion groups forming. Using the principles

of the ancient Emerald Tablet and the methods of the alchemists (who sought to

access the hidden reality that is manifested in many paranormal encounters),

the group seeks to learn more about higher consciousness and the steps people

go through to achieve it. For more information, visit the website at

HAWAII - Kailua Kona

Many weird things are happening in Hawaii. For instance, at the "End of the

World" (also known as the Sand Dooms) at the end of Alii Drive in Kailua Kona,

Hawaii, I had gone there with a friend at night and knew nothing about the

place whatsoever. At the site there was a lava rock wall, with what appeared to

be like a door entrance or walkway between the rock wall in the center. There

was also a green picnic table that had some, what appeared to be blood stains

there. There was also a broken lawn chair and also a rope that was hanging from

a tree and was frayed. Nothing too exciting at the time. I decided to walk to

the edge of the water and my friend, Ian had sat down on the broken lawn chair.

It was a nice evening, no clouds, no fog, no wind. It was a still beautiful

night. At one instance I turned to tell Ian something and he wasn't on the lawn

chair anymore. So I walked back towards the picnic table and I saw a figure of

someone sitting on the lava rock wall. I called out for my friend, Ian. This

figure got up and started walking towards me, I said, " Ian, is that you?" As I

called out louder, Ian had said, " I'm over here." He was over there by the car

and this figure was about 20 feet to my left. When I looked at Ian and then

looked at this silhouette whitish type figure, the figure had completely

vanished. I told Ian what I had seen and he thought I was crazy at first. There

was nobody else there. The place is completely secluded unless you know how to

get there. And only Ian and myself were there to begin with and we would have

seen someone else if in fact it was a REAL person. We decided to leave after

getting spooked. He proceeded to tell me that where we were was actually

Hawaiian burial grounds. He was quite scared and so was I. No I hadn't been

drinking, nor did I do any drugs whatsoever. I knew what I saw was very

strange. In fact, I told my mom about it at the time and she said that when she

was there by accident one day she got completely covered in mosquitos. She was

with her boyfriend, and nothing happened to him. She got a real strange feeling

that maybe the Hawaiians were trying to tell her that she didn't belong there.

Another time, back in March 1991 on Mahilani Drive at a house I experienced

something a lot stranger than that. I was in my room one night, my mom was at

the hospital after just having surgery. It was about 4:40 am. I had heard some

mumbling and didn't think anything of it. I thought I was thinking out loud,

sort to speak. I thought I was hearing what I was thinking. Anyways, I leaned

over to shut off my radio. My light was already on and I heard some mumbling or

something. I sat up and cleared my head and sat there, hoping that whatever I

was hearing would be clearer or just stop altogether. I sat there wide awake

and all of a sudden a woman's voice said, " I'm alright. It's ok, I'm here."

She said it twice and then said "Yeah, it's over." She sounded like someone I

was talking to that would be sitting right in front of me or next to me. It

sounded like a young woman and she sounded as though she was at the very edge

of my bed. I screamed and started crying because I was so freaked out by what I

actually heard. I called for my moms boyfriend and he came out of his room

asking what was going on. I calmed myself enough to tell him what I heard and

he went outside to see if anyone was outside.I proceeded to go back in my room

and see if someone was playing a trick on me. I remember thinking about how my

brother, who lived in California, used to love to play games like that and

scare people. I looked in my closet to see if someone or something was there.

There was nothing. I looked under the bed again, nothing. I looked out my

window and there was nothing and nobody except my mom's boyfriend. I decided

not to go back in that particular room because I thought it was haunted. After

about 3 days, I thought it was safe to go back in there and never again heard

anything of that sort. Hawaii was very strange to me. I found that I began to

know things that before I knew nothing about. I never studied anything about

paranormal things nor did I know who might be involved in what. I was able to

tell the police department about a flyer that was going around the high school.

I never seen it before, nor did I ever hear of anything going on. The flyer had

the Grim Reaper on it and it said something about a Birthday party and

something about being there or die. Well, I told the police that all I could

tell them was that there was possibly an occult going on and something to do

with human sacrificing. I told them who could possibly be involved and where it

was also three locations of where this might be happening. I told them about my

sightings at the End of the World about the blood stains and so forth. Turns

out that they had found out what was going on. They had arrested 63 people in

the involvement of occultism and the human sacrificing. I know this sounds

absurd, but believe me this is VERY TRUE and that is one main reason why I left

is because of all the things that I began knowing and things I was seeing. It

was too freaky for me.

WASHINGTON - Trout Lake

The old house use my grandmother used to live in an old home near Mt. Adams in

Washington state is haunted. It is located in a small town called Trout Lake. I

am not sure of the house's history but I believe it had belonged to a bachelor

logger at one time. There were the usual haunted occurrences like heavy

footsteps going up and down the bedroom stairs and items disappearing and

reappearing. Often I would go downstairs at night for a glass of water or to go

to the bathroom and the rocking chair in the living room would be moving as if

someone had just gotten up. One night my cousin Debby and I were sharing a

double bed in an upstairs room near the attic. I woke up freezing and reached

over to recover my blankets. As I opened my eyes I saw a bluish figure of a

large stout man standing over Debby's side of the bed. The room was like ice. I

must have laid there staring at the figure for several minutes. I was scared

stiff, but I remember thinking, "Please just go away."  He faded eventually and

I laid awake until dawn. My cousin Sue also had an experience with grandmothers

ghost. She was sleeping in the same room by the attic. A twin bed was against

the farthest wall in the room. Directly straight from the foot of the bed was a

small diamond shaped window which opened to the inside with an upper hinge. In

the summer we would place a wooden coat hanger between the window and the frame

to get  some fresh air. Sue was getting ready to go to sleep when she felt

someone in the room. The coat hanger came out from under the window and flew

across the room about 8 feet where it hit the wall up above her head. The

hanger fell on her pillow. She also was convinced that a ghost resided in the

house. My grandmother no longer lives in the house, which I am sure is still

haunted though I haven't had the chance to ask the new owners if they have seen

anything.

TRUE LIFE ENCOUNTERS

______________________

It was about twenty years ago when my mother and her husband, at the time, had

moved into their new home on the corner of a street in a nice neighborhood. The

house was only five years old and in perfect condition but very cheap.  My

oldest brother, who was three at the time, would ride his big-wheel around the

laundry room while my mother washed clothes. One day, while this routine was

taking place, my brother claimed to see a man underneath the dug out porch in

the basement. My mother, completely terrified, grabbed my brother and took off

for the upstairs. She told her husband what had happened and he went down

stairs to check things out. When he returned, he told my mother that there was

no one down there and that it was my brother's imagination. His story was

believable but not for long. A few nights later, my mother awoke to see my

brother at the side of her bed. He told her that he couldn't sleep and he was

scared. My mother picked him up and walked him around the house in hope that he

would go to sleep. While they were walking, my brother once again claimed to

see the man standing by the front door. My mother ran for bed and awoke her

husband. He again went to check things out. He came back and once again seen

nothing. Every one but my mother had sleep that night. The next day, mother

called one of her friends to tell her that she had moved. when she told her

friend what house it was, she insisted that my mother come over immediately.

She told my mother that the house they had chosen was a suicide house. The man

that had lived there before had shot himself underneath the porch in the

basement. They moved out as soon as possible.

Shamanism As A Spiritual Practice for Daily Life by Tom Cowan

(ISBN 0-89594-838-9, $16.95 QP, Crossing Press)

For many modern people, shamanism seems like a spiritual path that is best

practiced in the middle of a jungle or forest. Tapping into animal powers and

going on vision quests is a tall order for someone living in a tiny apartment

in the middle of a big city. This insightful book bridges that problem by

showing how to develop a personal spiritual practice by blending the elements

of shamanism with current religious and cultural traditions. The word “shaman”

is derived from two Asian words that mean “knowledge” and “heat,” and the

shaman is considered someone who is burning with knowledge from the spiritual

world. He or she is a person who has tapped into the normally imperceptible

realities of the Other Side. According to the author, not everyone can become a

shaman, but everyone can become a shamanic practitioner, which he defines as “a

man or woman like yourself who searches through the darkness of life for the

spiritual path that is personal, creative, life-affirming, and joyful.” To that

end, the book provides meditative techniques for journeying to the lower and

upper realms of the spirit world right in the comfort of your own easy chair,

as well as visualizations to meet, honor, and live with the spirits of nature

and the physical world  whether or not you live in rural or urban settings.

Especially useful are methods for recalling long-buried childhood mystical

experiences that carry a profound sense of oneness with the universe. There are

even ways of strengthening spiritual links with our ancestors and family

members who have recently passed on. So gather your friends around the drumming

circle and get ready to commune with the powers from beyond that penetrate even

into the deepest reaches of our cities. The era of the urban shaman has

arrived.

ALCHEMY OF CONSCIOUSNESS

____________________________

This month begins a new feature in this newsletter that many of you have

requested after hearing my lectures on the "Alchemy of the Paranormal." After

investigating hundreds of paranormal and mystical experiences over the last

twenty years, I have noticed that the experiencers appear to undergo a

transformation of consciousness that follows certain stages of development.

This section of the newsletter will be devoted to exploring those stages of

consciousness to determine how common they are and if they represent an

evolution in the general consciousness of the human species. Please let me know

if you have progressed through a change in personality or perspective due to a

paranormal or mystical encounter or if you have any general comments on this

idea. Email: DWHauck@poetic.com.

CURRENT PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

CANADA - Niagara On the Lake

The Olde Angel Inn at Niagara On the Lake is haunted by a general who was

killed in a wine barrel during the war (hiding from British troops) between

Fort Niagara and Fort George.

Fort Niagara itself is haunted by the presence of a headless man, who lost his

head during a feud between he and his fellow mate. Apprently, he still wonders

the grounds at night searching for his head (which was actually thrown into the

lake). Fort George contains a ghostly figure of a boy, which only appears to

school children when they visit the fort. There is also an old man who looks

through the windows at people as they walk through the barracks. Most locals

believe these places in Niagara On the Lake are in fact still haunted.

PERU - Hayu Marca

A huge mysterious door-like structure has recently been discovered in the Hayu

Marca mountain region of Southern Peru. Hayu Marca, 35 kilometers from the city

of Puno has long been revered by local Indians as the "City of the Gods", and

has never been fully explored because of the rugged mountain terrain. Although

no actual city has ever been discovered, many of the rock formations of the

region resemble buildings and artificial

structures. The door, or the "Puerta de Hayu Marca" (Gate of the Gods/Spirits)

has been at some time in the distant past carved out of a natural rock face and

in all measures exactly seven meters in height by seven meters in width with a

smaller alcove in the center at the base, which measures in at just under two

meters in height. Jose Luis Delgado Mamani stumbled across the structure while

trekking through the surrounding foothills trying

to familiarize himself with the area as his job is as a guide for

mountaineering tourists. "When I saw the structure for the first time, I almost

passed out..." said Mamani in an interview with the local press. "I have

dreamed of such a construction repeatedly over the years, but in the dream the

path to the door was paved with pink marble, and with pink marble statues

lining either side of the path. In the dream, I also saw that the smaller door

was open and there was a brilliant blue light coming from what looked like a

shimmering tunnel. I have commented to my family many times about these dreams,

and so when I finally gazed upon the doorway, it was like a revelation from

God. How do you make order of such a strange occurrence?" After discovering the

door earlier this year, Mamani contacted

archeological authorities in Puno, La Paz and Lima, and within a short time the

area was besieged with archeologists and Inca historians. It turned out that

the native Indians of the region had a legend that spoke of "A gateway to the

lands of the gods", and in that legend it was said that in times long past,

great heroes had gone to join their gods and passed through the gate for a

glorious new life of immortality, and on rare occasions those men returned for

a short time with their gods to "inspect all the lands in the kingdom" through

the gate. Another legend tells of the time when the Spanish Conquistadors

arrived in Peru,

and looted gold and precious stones from the Inca tribes - and one Incan priest

of the temple of the seven rays named Aramu Maru fled from his temple with a

sacred golden disk known as "The key of the gods of the seven rays", and hid in

the mountains of Hayu Marca. He eventually came upon the doorway which was

being watched by shaman priests. He showed them the key of the gods and a

ritual was performed with the conclusion of a magical occurrence initiated by

the golden disk which opened the portal, and according to the legend blue light

did emanate from a tunnel inside. The priest Aramu Maru handed the golden disk

to the shaman and then passed through the portal "never to be seen again".

Archeologists have observed a small hand sized circular depression on the right

hand side of the small entranceway, and have theorized that this is where a

small disk could be placed and held by the rock. According to some individuals

who have laid their hands on the small door, a feeling of energy flowing has

been commented on, as well as strange experiences such as visions of stars,

columns of fire and the sounds of unusual rhythmic music. Others have said

that they have perceived tunnels on the interior of the structure, though

nobody as yet has found a gap that would illustrate the door opening, on the

contrary the professional opinion is that there is no actual door, for the

frame and the entranceway and the back of the alcove are all carved from the

same rock. It is interesting to note that the structure undeniably resembles

the gate of the sun at Tiahuanaco and five other archeological sites which link

together by imaginary straight lines a cross with the lines crossing each other

exactly

at the point where the plateau and lake of Titicaca is located. News reports

from the region over the last twenty years have indicated sizable UFO activity

in all of these areas, especially at Lake Titicaca. Most of the reports

describe glowing blue spheres and bright white disk shaped objects. The

aforementioned legend concludes with a prophecy that the door of the gods will

one day open "many times bigger than it actually is..." and allow

the gods to return in their "sun ships".

-  Paul Damon (Truth Seekers Research Int'l S.A.I.) Thanks go to Carlos Herrera

G., Miguel Luis F. and Gina Olano for their kind correspondence and assistance

in providing details.

UTAH - Blanding/Monticello

I was just wondering, if anyone has ever heard of a place in Utah called the

Devil's Heart Beat? This place is in the middle of nowhere down a long dirt

road. It is said that it is on Indian grounds, and that several murders have

also taken place here. They say that you can go there and see ghosts, and

strange things moving about at night. I am not sure of the exact location, I

know that it is off of the old Highway 666, between Blanding and Monticello in

Utah. If you have any information, please let me know, I am very interested,

as I have a teenage daughter who wants to check it out, and I am afraid to let

her go!

TRUE LIFE ENCOUNTERS

______________________

One night in the early 1980s, while supposedly asleep, I suddenly found myself

in a light green room. The lighting was dim and there were plain backless

benches of a light shade of wood along all four sides of the wall, which was

filled with people of all ages sitting quietly, but no children. There was one

regular size door way that opened to another building.

My name was called, but I didn't see anyone, and I was told to go to the next

room. I walked over to the door and was shocked to see that there was at least

a foot or more distance of black space separating the rooms. I could see the

molecules and I instantly knew we were in space. Also I seemed to know that if

I stepped into that blackness that I would be lost forever. I was scared about

stepping over this space, but for some reason I knew that I

had no choice. It was almost like it was there to test us as to whether we

would be afraid to step over it. I entered the next building which consisted of

two green rooms. There was a

woman sitting at a desk covered with files, and also more benches with people

sitting and waiting. I could see in through the doorway of the other room and

there were filing cabinets lined up against the wall. A woman came out from the

file room with an opened file in her hand and called my name. I went up to her

and she said, "You can't come over." I knew she

meant I had to return to earth and even though this most certainly wasn't

inviting I wanted to stay, but not in the green rooms of course. So I said, "I

want to come over now." She answered, "You can't because you still have

responsibilities." That quickly it was over and I lay in bed mulling what just

happened. It was so vivid that it seems like only yesterday. Since that time I

can see how I was used to bring my family together in Las Vegas, Nevada, by

moving here from Louisiana. My one twin met his wife in Louisiana, and the

other twin met his wife in Las Vegas. Because of this move my third son moved

to California rather than living in Vegas and met his wife. I can see the

pattern of my whole life in how it set in motion the many moves for my

children, my husband and me. Now I wait to see what comes next from my choices

in life (or are they my choices?). I desire to go over to the Other Side, but

guess we really don't have that choice. This is just one of many experiences I

have encountered throughout my long life. I have come to the conclusion that we

all have a certain time to pass over to the Other Side and then continue living

forever without the fear of

death stalking us.

The Soul of Shamanism by Daniel Noel

(ISBN 0-8264-0932-6, $24.50 Hbk, Continuum Publishing)

Dr. Daniel Noel, author of five other books including Paths to the Power of

Myth, argues convincingly in his latest book that we can achieve the initiatory

depth of shamanism without having to pirate misunderstood pieces of the

spiritual resources of indigenous people. Instead, by getting to the soul of

shamanism, he presents a modern shamanistic discipline imbued with the rich

heritage of Western culture that we can offer in true exchange with the

original inhabitants, whose treasure we have only wanted to take until now. The

basis and driving force behind Noel’s neoshamanism is the imaginal power of the

psyche, the lost soul of the West that is to be rediscovered in the fictive

power of our literary tradition and in the active imagining techniques of

Jungian psychology. These disciplines offer a powerful shamanic otherworld for

Western seekers with Western methods for approaching it. We have only to look

back at our neglected heritage from 2,000 years of alchemy or the centuries of

Arthurian legends to find new sources and new tools for spiritual transmutation

created by Westerners. Neoshamanism is also good news for Native Americans and

other indigenous peoples who have seen their natural religions adapted and

translated into New Age parlance. This colonization of others’ spiritual

territory is no longer necessary for Western seekers, for in our vast literary

and psychoanalytic tradition, we can find and become fascinated by our own

uniqueness and strangeness  where the roots of our true transformation lie.

ALCHEMY OF CONSCIOUSNESS

____________________________

I definitely believe encounters with the paranormal and mystical cause you to

move forward consciously. In my case, I have had numerous encounters of all

kinds, starting with dreams that came to pass when I was a small child, seeing

spirits with my brothers and our dog, now my dreams are teaching dreams, the

only thing I have not encountered is a UFO, but most everyone in my family has,

this causes you to be very open minded even at times when you would rather not

be, (ignorance is bliss), it also causes you to question authority figures who

are trying to get you to believe things that you know are not so, or may not be

so. I encounter people who are so sure about the way things are, they cannot be

budged from their opinions, even though their opinions are something that has

been taught to them by another man, not by an experience they have had. These

experiences, the mystical or paranormal, cause your brain to stretch, I believe

you can even feel it when you start to think of something in a different way,

and I believe that is how we evolve. Thanks so much for your work! - Glenda

Jorgensen <Jorgee10@aol.com>

CALIFORNIA - Orange

There's been a lot of rumors here in the city of Orange, California, about a

new housing development that has recently opened. It was built where an old

run-down Post Office used to stand right next to the railroad tracks that are

still there. The occupants of the two houses nearest to where the old shack

used to stand have reported seeing the ghost of an old lady walking through the

halls and hearing laughter and footsteps when no one else is in the house. The

two houses are on the corner on Lincoln Avenue and Orange Olive Street.  -

CANADA - Kimberly, British Columbia

A diamond-shaped UFO appeared over the town of Kimberly (population 6,531) and

allegedly caused the roof of the McKim Theater annex of the Kimberly Middle

School to collapse. The incident was reported in the "East Kootenay Weekly"

newspaper: "A diamond- shaped UFO covered with flashing lights may have been

responsible for the collapse of the McKim Theater roof in Kimberley two weeks

ago. "That's the rumor setting the ski town a-buzz after about five witnesses

reported seeing strange lights drifting slowly above the Bavarian City around

midnight March 5. Fueling speculation were reports of an unusual 'light show'

spotted directly over the theater roof just a few hours before its

as-yet-unexplained collapse. The UFO was first sighted at 10 p.m. when home

care worker Gail Shay had just returned from work to her apartment at the

Pioneer Lodge on Church Street. As she prepared to retire, she watched

unusually bright lights hovering above the roof of the theater. 'At first,' she

said, 'it seemed that there was a crisscrossing spotlight going up into the sky

from the roof of the school. It was glimmering, like the northern lights. There

were all these colors. Then the light spread out like a mushroom cloud, exactly

on the same spot where the roof is (now) gone.' Kimberley RCMP (Royal Candian

Mounted Police--J.T.) received several telephone calls that night about the

phenomenon, although they were unable to verify the sighting. ''We're not about

to speculate on the cause of the collapse, but we've heard all kinds of tales,

including UFO sightings on Friday night,' said George Watson, director of

School District No. 6." Located in the Purcell Mountains, Kimberley is on

Provincial Highway 95A about 520 miles east of Vancouver, B.C.  - Christine

Boyd in the "East Kootenay Weekly" for March 23, 1999. Submitted by Rob

McConnell of the X-Zone <xzone@610cktb.com>

MAINE - Windham

On September 30,1998, a group of friends went to a house that has recently

caused interest in the community of the Greater Portland area in Maine. It is

located on the River Road in Windham, Maine. Well anyway, we arrived there and

stood and looked at the house and my friend said why don't we go to the stone

slab in the cemetery on the property. We went there and then my girlfriend

dared my friend to go up to one of the windows of the house and look in. Well,

while he was walking to the gate, I got this funny feeling that something weird

was going to happen. It did. When he was no more than 100 feet from the house

my girlfriend and I were looking at the window that he was going to look in and

all of a sudden it just got bright and there was a translucent face in the

window with glowing eyes. I have never seen anyone run as fast as he did in my

whole life, then we started running because we were seeing the same thing.

After 30 seconds of running, we saw our other party pull up and they got out of

the car and we told what just happened and of course didn't believe us. So we

headed back to the house and when we got back there it was gone. They took off

about twenty minutes later after we talked a little bit so my girlfriend took

off with them. The rest of us were stuck 10 miles from our homes, so we thought

best to go to a convenience store and call for a ride home. I don't know if

anyone actually reads this but if you are interested in more about this place

in the future, just e-mail me back. If anyone else knows anything about this

place, it would be greatly appreciated if they would share their information.

TRUE LIFE ENCOUNTERS

______________________

Last year around Christmas time, I was sitting in the den watching TV and I

heard the door bell ring so I got up and answered the door and when I opened it

no one was there. So I went back in the den a few minutes later heard the door

bell again but this time the door bell wouldn't stop ringing. I opened it up

and nothing was there but wouldn't stop ringing, so I took the batteries out or

the doorbell sound box. As soon as I sat the batteries down, I heard laughter

from the attic. Later that night, I was almost asleep when I heard the laughter

again. I looked up at the ceiling and a strange glowing light was shining out

from the air vent. A few seconds later, the light went away. The next day, I

told my sister what had happened and she didn't believe me. A few minutes

later, we both herd the laughter. The laughter and strange noises in the attic

went on for about two months, and then I never heard the noises again.   -

The Rights of the Dying by David Kessler (Harper 1999)

It is hard to think of anyone more qualified to write this book. David

Kessler, a student of Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, is the founder of dozens of

agencies that work with the terminally ill and has counseled hundreds of people

with life-threatening diseases, including Elizabeth Taylor and the late Michael

Landon. With this book, he has created a badly needed companion for life's

final moments, an insightful guide for loved ones, and a passionate plea for

the rights of the dying. The vast majority of people still die in hospitals

where they are given few rights, where their real needs and concerns are often

overlooked, where they are treated like second-class citizens. But the final

months leading to the end should be a time of deliberate dissolution, a

powerful place in one's life  not an experience of being brushed aside. What

are the rights of the dying? According to Kessler, the first right is simply to

be treated as a living human being. We should be allowed freedom from pain and

enjoy comfort without being embarrassed. The dying have the right to maintain a

sense of hopefulness, however changing its focus may become. They also have the

right to be cared for by those who really care, by those who can maintain a

sense of hopefulness, however changing this may be. Everyone has the right to

die in peace and dignity. David Kessler helps us overcome our reluctance to

discuss death, teaches us how to talk to the dying, and allows us to maintain

hope and balance in a time of suffering and separation. His book can help you

face your own death with dignity and inner peace. Just before her death,

someone who did just that read Kessler's manuscript captured its spirit in just

a few words. "This book is source of reflection over that mysterious and

beautiful moment which awaits us all," said Mother Teresa. "It helps people to

understand that death is the full surrender of ourselves to love, like falling

into the arms of God. That is death. It is going home to God."

ALCHEMY OF CONSCIOUSNESS

In 1991-92, I went through something so terrible that I would not wish it on my

worst enemy. Yet through this paranormal "battle" I went through some form of

transformation and came out on the other side, though I never really knew what

it was I had entered. What I had gained after this transformation was so much

at one time that it took some time to adjust to the overwhelming knowledge of

the existence of the Other Side. I began to know things. I found that I started

living a life filled with synchronicity, or as my ex-husband so politically

correctly put it "cognitive thinker." That is what I was labeled by him, so HE

could feel comfortable with this knowledge that came out of no where! I knew I

was a first born, and found the truth; my sister was indeed a half-sister sired

by another father than my own. I knew many more things outside the personal

level. I had a dream that told me more in Scandinavian runes. I jumped up and

wrote it down on an envelope thinking it Aramaic or Sanskrit, only to find out

later that it was Scandinavian runes. I am a native Scandinavian from Thule,

descendant from the tribe called Amali (meaning blood royal). I know this is

arcane knowledge and gets me nowhere. Maybe it is nothing but a vivid

imagination, but imagination could be so much more than we think. But I take it

as just that: an Overactive Imagination. I prefer to keep one foot in shallow

ground; I just do not want to get in too deep again. Still, my life changed so

completely after my transformation. I got dreams on physics, and I never

studied it. I have become an esoteric being in an esoteric world that others do

not see. Now I simply accept it and get curious from time to time, but even

then, I tend to take it all with a grain of salt, which keeps me sane. I am so

glad it is over, and yet I know it is not. I am no longer what I was.   -

COLORADO - Denver

I moved to a small cabin type home (circa 1860) in unincorporated Denver 2 1/2

years ago and have had a few experiences since. I moved in with a cat and

within a month I adopted a puppy (this is important for the story). From day

one, we noticed a scent of perfume in the house, and I

searched extensively to find the source to no avail. The scent was often on my

cat and then on the puppy. I soon dismissed it, until my cat had kittens.

Suddenly they all smelled of the perfume for awhile! Then one morning I was in

the kitchen and an old song from before my time came to my head and I sang it

word for word. This was odd for two reasons, I never knew all the words before

that day, and I normally don't burst into song, even in my own home!! Again, I

dismissed it. One night I was sound asleep, and happened to wake at 3:00 am. I

looked up at the wall clock and saw a shimmering light move slowly across the

wall. I watched it as it moved out of my room and towards the kitchen hallway.

I felt peaceful, so I went back to sleep. I started to realize that the house

wasn't what you would call "haunted, but I definitely had a spirit that would

come visit us off and on! I felt that it was a woman, and the name "Catherine"

stuck in my brain when I wondered who she was. I also found out she liked to

visit my kitchen (too bad she didn't wash the dishes or cook!!). I also came to

the conclusion that she liked baby animals. My dog had puppies last winter and

again her presence was felt strong and the perfume scent came back. Since that

time, I have seen a woman with a flowing pink gown (from the 1800's?) and dark

hair in a bun, in and out of the house on two occasions. Which brings me to my

yard. The first spring after I moved in, I was hanging laundry on the clothes

line right before sunset. I felt as though I was being watched and casually

glanced up to see a man standing in front of my garage watching me! What stood

out with his features were his yellowish-orange glowing eyes!! I closed my eyes

and said :Go away" and he did!! I checked out the history of this property and

found out before the ranch was built pioneers had come though my yard and the

surrounding field as they were making their way West. I have a creek in my back

yard, so the water drew them to this area. Many people lost their lives here

over land rights and the rugged weather. I believe I have may spirits who

wander through my yard on their way to somewhere else?!! I also believe that

Catherine is protecting our home from others wandering through. -

WESTERN CARIBBEAN CRUISE SHIP "MAJESTY OF THE SEAS" - Investigative Report by

Donna Quinn of the Cosmic Society ©

While on a cruise in the Western Caribbean, from May 12-19, 1996, paranormal

activity was witnessed on many occasions aboard Royal Caribbean's cruise ship

the Majesty of the Seas. Ghost globules were present in several photographs,

but were not visible after scanning into the computer. There are many beautiful

pieces of artwork on board the ship but a statue of a warrior crafted of bronze

caught my attention as being really creepy. I felt if I were going to get any

good ghost photos it would most likely be around this statue. I was surprised

to find the pictures of him clear, while energy swirled around him. During the

cruise I experienced a few unusual paranormal events. The first thing Emilee,

my cruise companion, and I noticed was the continual problems with the

television, but being on a boat in the middle of an ocean, we figured this was

probably normal. The rooms which were next to us on either side of us

experienced no difficulties with any of their electrical appliances or

equipment, but we thought maybe we just had a faulty connection somewhere.

Twice we called the on board electrician, and twice he couldn't find anything

wrong with the set or it's connections. We only added in these disturbances to

our list of weird events after other weird occurrences began to emerge. I

prepared to take a shower one afternoon, while Emilee was galavanting who knows

where (!), and in so doing, I laid out my clothes on the bed and my hair and

jewelry accessories on the mirrored dresser-top. I distinctly remember doing

so, as I had to retrieve a new pair of earrings out of a pocketbook,I had just

purchased on shore, and stood there admiring them for a moment. Approximately

15 minutes later, after dressing, I coulnd't find the earrings where I'd left

them and began a scramble searching for them. At first I thought maybe Emilee

had come into the room and perhaps "borrowed" them without asking me (like she

often did with my room key). Just then "something" prompted me to look over at

the pillow and there dead center were the earrings, side by side. OK, now I

realized something abnormal was going on. I did not notice them there when I

got my clothes off of the bed. The next event was one of the most bizarre I

have ever been witness to, in the respect that something dematerialized right

out of my hand. I had been enjoying a conversation with the other guests at our

dinner table, when we began talking about ghosts and the paranormal. I happened

to mention a book I was currently reading that's basis was centered on

demonology. I went back to my room, retrieved the book to show and headed

straight back to the table. I did NOT stop anywhere, meet anyone, or set the

book down anywhere. Yet when I arrived back at the table, I was astounded that

I was no longer holding the book. You should have seen the look on my face! I

can still feel the amazement I felt then. It was so bizarre! The book was never

ever found or turned into the Ship's Lost and Found department and we found the

whole situation highly unexplainable! Another small detail included the feeling

of someone rubbing my leg at around 4:30 am.( The problem was I was alone in

the room!)

Here is a note sent into the Cosmic Society website (www.cosmicsociety.com)

regarding Royal Carribean's ship "The Majesty of the Seas" from former employee

Clint Austin:. "I worked for Royal Caribbean from 1991 to 1995. I worked

several times on the Majesty of the Seas. From my cabin in the crew area, I

personally heard the banging and the muffled voices and sounds. I was aware of

all noises because this was the first time I had ever been on a ship. It took

me every time the ship creaked, I was sure something was wrong! I would close

the nightclub around 4:00 am and head back to my cabin through the crew

passage. Because of the early hour, not much activity was happening so when you

heard a noise, you looked. Sometimes I would hear what would sound like

footsteps following me. I would turn around, and nothing would be there. The

same with the muffled "voices". You would hear them (they were always

indistinguishable, but definitely male voices), and when you would look to the

area that they were coming from, ask several of my coworkers if they ever heard

anything like what I heard and they would always tell me it was because the was

haunted. I thought they were trying to scare me, initiate me because it was my

first time working on a ship. Finally, The sound and light director sat down

and talked to me. It seems that a fire had broke out on the ship right before

she was set to sail. Several men were killed. (This happened in France.) They

cut the burnt out section of the Majesty and replaced it with a section of the

sister ship, 'Monarch of the Seas.' Both ships were being built at the same

time. This practice of ship repair is not uncommon. This was done because the

Majesty was to sail before the Monarch. Seems there were always problems in the

main showroom too. During a production, the whole lighting board would stop

working, causing the room to lose all lights. The board would be quickly

replaced and later, the same thing would happen again. When the stage crew

could check the boards, they would then function like new. It was thought that

there were problems with the electrical system, but they would be replaced

constantly and nothing was ever found. Now, when we would hear the voices and

footsteps, no one ever felt scared or uncomfortable. It never really bothered

you. You just got used to it."

TRUE LIFE ENCOUNTERS

This happened at an old house we live in Maryland. I am 19 now, but when this

thing happened I was only 14. I was in my room cleaning my mirror. I had the

door to my slightly cracked. Well I had my back to the door when something hit

my door and opened it. I thought it was my dog but when I turned around nothing

was there. I turned back to my mirror and then I saw a figure in my mirror walk

by..it was wearing like a yellow flowered dress and walked down the hall. At

first I thought it was my sister and just continued to clean my mirror..Then I

heard my sister call me from down stairs. I walked down the steps and asked my

sister if she was just upstairs. She said that she just got home. I shivered

and then went back up to my room and then walked down the hall where the figure

had went. I couldn't find anything. I walked into the little half bathroom that

was between my room and my parent's room that the figure walked into. Well, I

started washing my hands and again the figure walked past the bathroom and

turned and looked at my in the mirror and then vanished as if it were telling

me something. I felt this cold air fill the bathroom and moved throughout the

whole upstairs hallway. To this day I still can't figure out what the figure

was trying to tell me.  - Julie Wozniak <rfwozniak@erols.com>

Dancing the Dream: The Seven Sacred Paths of Human Transformation

by Jamie Sams (HarperCollins, San Francisco, California)

What is it about the number seven and human transformation? It is the

prominent number of steps on the “ladder to God” in most major religions. The

Catholic seven sacraments embody the attributes of the compassion of Christ,

which are to be emulated to reach the Christ consciousness, and in Judaism, the

seventh day of creation is devoted to the manifestation of spirit in the

physical world. In Islam, there are seven paths Muslims must follow to know

Allah. In the Hindu and Buddhist traditions, seven energy centers (chakras) in

the human body lead to enlightenment. The seven visible planets guide the way

to our return to the stars in the hermetic tradition, and in alchemy, there are

seven operations that perfect the metals in man and raise our “temperaments” to

the divine level.

Not surprisingly, the same pattern shows up in aboriginal and native

cultures throughout the world. In the Native American tradition, the Medicine

Wheel represents the seven paths of human initiation. In her latest book, Jamie

Sams, author of the popular Medicine Cards and Sacred Path Cards series,

combines twenty-five years of intensive study with Cherokee and Seneca shamans

to give seekers a clear and straightforward path to spiritual transformation.

According to those traditions, the human spiritual journey is guided by the

seven sacred directions.

The journey begins in the East, the direction of readiness for change,

sudden illumination, and spiritual synchronicity. Armed with our new spiritual

perspective, we turn South, which is the way of healing relationships and

return of trust into our lives. To the West we discover the power of

introspection and meditation that build self-esteem and personal balance to

continue our quest. To the North we understand the proper use of our newly

acquired wisdom and find the way of unconditional love and compassion. Above us

lies infinity, where we learn how to move in the spiritual and imaginal realms,

often with the help of a plant “ally” or deep meditative state. Below we

reconnect with the earth and return to matter, but now we are able to see

spirit in all things and use that power to help others. Finally, we enter

Within, the secret place inside where we exist self-sufficient in full

consciousness of the present moment. The mysterious thing about all the

seven-stepped spiritual paths is that they all lead to this same place: living

in concentrated awareness of the eternal Now.

ALCHEMY OF CONSCIOUSNESS

____________________________

I haven't experienced a near death or a paranormal transformation, but my wife

and I have experienced a step by step process of transformation. We feel that

it is a process that all people experience but all of us are not aware of it.

If you have a traumatic experience it is possible this process is speeded up .

The perception of the experience seems to determine hellish or heavenly

experiences and who is to say which is the best because maybe the ones that

experience the hellish need to experience this in order to be ready for the

next step toward their

higher-self. Its a continuing process!  - Ray and Pat Clayton <RAPA@webtv.net>

I think there is merit in your proposition that exposure to the paranormal can

affect change within the person exposed to it. I, myself, have experienced

great change after living for two years in a very "haunted" house.I find myself

extremely psychic after the experiences and feel it is a direct result of this

exposure to the paranormal.  - Kenneth Shank <kennethshank@usa.net>

(Please let me know if you have progressed through changes in personality or

perspective due to a paranormal or mystical encounter or if you have any

general comments on this kind of transformation. Email: DWHauck@poetic.com.)

CURRENT PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

CALIFORNIA - San Diego

I have heard of a ghost in Strictly Taboo Restaurant on Lomo Alto in San Diego.

A friend of mine tells me that while temporarily employed, he witnessed

activities of three reported ghosts. Mary, Eddie and a third identity unknown.

He tells me Mary was reported to have experienced a fatal heart attack upon

hearing, by way of telephone, of the death of a close family member. Doug

reports inexplicable occurrences such as martini glass which seemed to break

themselves (Mary) and pens pulled out of pockets (Eddie) when nobody was a

round. He says the Italian food is excellent!  - Patrick Stanfill

<patrickst_tsp@email.msn.com>

SOUTH CAROLINA - Dillon

A group of my friends and myself went to a location outside Dillion, SC,

looking for Bingham's light. My friend from Florence had told me about this

place. Supposedly an old railroad ran through this area. The story tells that

"Bingham" was a railroad employee who was killed by a train. The light is

"Bingham" trying to find his head. The spot has been visited by the television

show "Unsolved Mysteries". At first I was a skeptic to this place and story. I

am currently attending the College of Charleston. A group of us had been

talking about this " light" and decided to go. We went down an old logging

road, which is part of a hunting club. There is a turnoff on the road which

leads to the swamp. We had a group of about 14 with us. We walked down this

turnoff road until it ended. We stood at the end of the road and stared into

the woods. After about 15 minutes we saw nothing. Half the group had to leave.

There was 6 of us left in the swamp. We did not talk as much now. A couple of

minutes after the other group left we saw a light about 100 yards away. It

started out small, about the size of a lighter. I proceeded to get bigger. It

got to the size of a lantern. It then began rising above the ground. It rose

about 20 to 30 feet in the air. It appeared to be moving towards us. The light

the came back down slowly and went out. This was over a 5 minute period. We

stood there hoping to get another look at the light. Several of us spotted it

again. This time it was red. Again it started out real small. It did not get as

big as the white light. It move side to side and still appeared to be moving

closer. We watched this light for some time. It really freaked me out. I am

looking forward to going again. - Josh Holliday <jlholli1@edisto.cofc.edu>

TENNESSEE - Memphis

Recently I visited the world's only Ornamental Metal Museum which is housed on

the grounds of a deserted Marine Hospital near the river bluff here in Memphis.

The hospital, over a century old, was closed in 1965. The place is said to be

haunted and I took several pictures showing strange floating orbs and scattered

sparkles. The most haunted area is inside a building that was a central part of

the hospital during the Yellow Fever epidemics of the last century. All my

"ghost" photos were taken at the only existing entrance to the building's old

basement morgue. The stairs had replaced a "body chute" to the morgue. - Steve

Cox <SteveCox@SteveCox.com>

TRUE LIFE ENCOUNTERS

______________________

This didn't happen to me, it happened to my great uncle. He had recently buried

his wife. One night he awoke to her calling him. She was saying "help me, help

me I'm drowning" My great uncle was very bothered by this, but he thought it

was just a dream. This became a nightly ritual until finally my great uncle

decided that he had to see what was going on. He had his dead wife's body dug

up. Upon opening the casket, he noticed a very dark water ring up around her

face, and her clothes were damp. It seems that water was seeping into the

casket at night. He had her body placed on higher ground, and he never heard

from her again, until a few years later, he was in his house, and was sitting

by the gas light. (this was the late 1800's early 1900's) when he heard a

women's voice calling his name to come outside. He looked out the window and

saw his dead wife up on a hill waving for him to come up. He did, and just as

he left the front porch the house blew up. She had saved his life. He never

heard from her again, although I'm sure they're together now in another life. -

Gigi Napoli <giginapoli@eidelmangrp.com>

Something ghostly was in our house last year around Christmas time. I was

sitting in the den watching TV and I herd the door bell ring, so I got up and

answered the door and when I opened it no one was there so I went back in the

den a few minutes later herd the door bell again but this time the door bell

wouldn't stop ringing I opened it up and nothing was there but wouldn't stop

ringing so I too the batteries out or the sound box I sat the batteries down

and I herd laughter from the attic. later that night was almost asleep when I

heard the laughter again I looked up at the ceiling and a strange glowing light

was shining out from the air vent a few seconds later it went away. The next

day I told my sister what had happened and she didn't believe me. a few minutes

later we both herd the laughter. The laughter and strange noises in the attic

went on for about two months and then I never herd the noises again. - Janice

NEW RELEASES

_______________

Radical Spirituality by Dick Sutphen  (ISBN 0-87554-583-1, $12.00 QP, 216 pages,

Valley of the Sun Publishing.)

This is Dick Sutphen’s most controversial book to date. The author of

You Were Born Again To Be Together and several other best-selling titles,

Sutphen has recorded hundreds of tapes on metaphysical topics and holds

training seminars on past-life regression. But in his latest book, he trashes

many of the New Age movement’s most cherished beliefs.

He belittles positive thinking, ridicules predictions of earth changes,

denies the existence of a harmonic convergence, questions the idea of soulmates

as destiny, attacks the superiority of a vegetarian diet, sees no value in

trying to squelch ego, and even questions the desirability of extended

meditation. In fact, he challenges the whole concept of enlightenment. For

Sutphen, there is little going on in the world except karma and reincarnation.

Yet within those two concepts, he fashions an entire system of metaphysics

based on allowing life to fully express itself and fulfilling one’s earthly

purpose. That purpose is to integrate fear-based emotions, which creates an

absence in which only one’s God-self is left to interact with the world.

“For years I’ve been telling people,” Sutphen said at one of his

seminars, “that from a karmic perspective, fear-based emotions are nothing more

than delusions programmed by current-life and past-life experiences. As you

become self-actualized, you become aware of what is, and let go of the fears.

Your earthly purpose, then, can be simplified down to just four words: ‘Cast

away your delusions,’ or if you prefer, ‘Learn to let go.’” Sutphen claims that

the 69 tenets of his Radical Spirituality are the only bible anyone will ever

need. If he’s right, we had better all start working on the self-actualized

foundation that will set us free from the endless cycle of karmic punishment.
